Paul Norcross is running in the
Republican Primary for House District 61
HIGH POINT - (Excerpts from Paul Norcross’s speech to the High Point Republican Committee)
You’ve heard the old saying, "If you are going to talk the talk, you better walk the walk." Well, all my life I have walked like a Republican. Like many of you I was drawn into politics by Ronald Reagan….remember: "Morning in America".
I have tried to live my life by the Republican virtues he embodied.
Why I believe in businessleadesrhip
Kim and I started our own business, with $100 and an infant son, ultimately turning it into a global supply management company; meeting payroll, paying taxes, developing innovative technology, creating jobs, and balancing budgets. Because of our work, I understand that real economic growth begins and flourishes through private initiatives and not government handouts.
The importance of family and education
I have been happily married for 21 years, to the former Kim Kennedy of High Point. We have two teenage children, Matt and Mari. Because of what we have learned about the importance of both parenting and education, Kim and I founded Phoenix Academy, High Point’s only public charter school.
The success of Phoenix Academy
Today, nearly 300 students attend our tuition-free school. The creator and first school in the state the PBS or Positive Behavioral System. We have worked to offer thoughtful and positive alternatives that make education less expensive… and more effective.Reagan and Community
We all remember Ronald Reagan’s passion for the power of "volunteerism". We heard his words and believe this is the best way to help those in need; therefore we founded a charitable foundation in honor of my late sister, and the "7 Degrees of Change global literacy project" which promotes literacy and reading projects in third world countries.
You may have seen us last week on Fox 8, as we are kicked off this years annual book drive in partnership with civic organizations throughout the district, trying to top last years’ record of providing 56,000 books to Tagaytay, Philippines and Macau. What I am trying to convey is so very simple to grasp, everyone remembers the song "walk like an Egyptian", We are in a crisis of confidence in government right now. It is real and it is deserved. And hope that we have learned not just to look at the "words" and the "promises"………. those are easy.Look to the record
But I ask to you to look completely at the "what" every politician has done with his life. The virtues of Republicanism are strong. I think we need to bring them back in the public life. That is why I am running…….and I hope you will walk with me. |
